New bike is in and just picked it up. Pretty excited to say the least, it’s a BMC RoadMachine 02 105 model. Leonard over at Velo Pacific in Long Beach always takes good care of me. I am always happy to support a local bike shop and when they are good guys it’s a bonus too.
Overall first impressions are it looks great! Feels light, I was expecting it to be a bit heavier with the 02 version and being 105 group. Cannondale was over at the Tour of Palm Springs with their SuperSix Evo Disc and it was a bit on the heavy side. I knew that was from the wheels mainly and was expecting the BMC to be the same. Pleasantly surprised by the weight as the starting point. With upgrades down the line, one goal will be to upgrade and reduce the overall weight of the bike as well. Starting weight comes in at about 18lbs so there is some room for improvement of course.
Started to put a couple things on, Pedals on, Donut top cap on, got bottle cages coming in. This weekend will get some good miles on it to really see how it feels, need to get fitted for it of course then I can really enjoy. I am pretty stoked on it so it’s going to be great.

Red bikes make you faster, I’m sure scientists somewhere will have proven that.
